Black Forest Ham Reheating Instructions
- Check the packaging for specific instructions. If instructions are missing, follow these general guidelines.
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Remove the ham from its packaging and place it in a roasting pan or oven-safe dish.
- Add 1/2 to 1 cup of water, apple juice, or broth to the bottom of the pan to keep the ham moist.
- Cover the ham tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture.
- Reheat the ham for approximately 10 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature at the thickest part of the ham, avoiding the bone.
- Let the ham rest for 5-10 minutes after reheating before slicing and serving.
Comments:
- If your ham includes a glaze packet, or you have your own glaze, apply it during the final 15-20 minutes of reheating. Remove the foil, brush the glaze over the ham, and return it to the oven uncovered until the glaze caramelizes.
- For smaller portions, you can reheat slices in the microwave. Cover with a damp paper towel and heat on medium power for 1-2 minutes per slice.
- Refrigerate any leftovers promptly and consume within 3-4 days.
